Gheorge Zamfir’s The Lonely Shepherd

Have you heard a song or a piece of music, didn’t know the name of it or its singer/player/composer and spend years looking for it?

I’ve a few like that: Bach’s Cello Concerto #1 first movement, Don McLean’s Starry Night.

I must have heard Gheorghe Zamfir’s The Lonely Shepherd when I was like six or seven. I didn’t even understand English. No idea who it was, what the song was called. I’ve been longing for that heart-piercing panpipe ever since. Discovered it a few days ago by accident among an instrumental song collection on Youtube.
